 GOP Strategery

re: That Press Conference [Mark R. Levin]

Warning to the White House: Nixon tried buying peace with the Left.  Hence, we have the EPA, OSHA, affirmative action, etc., and it didn't work.  (Yes, I know Bush doesn't have Nixon's ethical issues; that's not the point.)  Bush is misreading them.  The libs want the White House in 2008 and their tactics the last few years will be seen as effective now that they won Congress.  Dumping Rumsfeld, a higher minimum wage, etc., will buy the president nothing.  Rather than move left, the president needs to move right.  And if he doesn't the Republican party must - without him.

Let Me Just Say... [Jonah Goldberg]

I for one welcome our new Democratic overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted rightwing personality, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves.

 Nunn on Gates

Meanwhile, former Democratic senator Sam Nunn has released the following statement:

Bob Gates is an excellent choice to be the new Secretary of Defense. I have known Bob and worked closely with him for years. He has demonstrated an ability to work closely with Congress on a bipartisan basis and has a well-deserved reputation on both sides of the aisle for competency and integrity. We are fortunate that a man with his wisdom, judgment and experience is willing to assume this responsibility during a time of serious challenges for our military men and women and our nation.

 Interesting...credit to the GOP

From a NRO reader:  "I recall in 2004 when Bush won again and when the Rs were in charge of everything Democrats flying off the handle and the liberal blogosphere lighting up like a profanity-laden pinball machine.

People screaming for recalls and blaming everyone under the sun because of how stunned they were that they could lose.

But today, the morning after a rather telling loss, I am drowning in conservative literature and television with pundits and politicians alike focusing inward on how we can change ourselves to recapture the American heart rather than spewing vitriol at the Democratic victors. Our guys lost, fair and square."

Lieberman is going to be a blast to watch

"I will go to Washington beholden to no political group, but only to the people of Connecticut and my conscience," Mr. Lieberman told supporters in his victory speech Tuesday night at the Goodwin Hotel here. He said his victory was "a declaration of independence from politics of partisanship," adding, "I will be an independent senator, but I will not be alone."
