 Latest Tennessee numbers

From MSNBC:

Corker 50%

Ford 38%

Not sure why Ford's support is collapsing...assume it is just Republicans coming home to roost.......if this is a trend, the Democrats may have trouble taking the House as well, and the recriminations will be severe..Pelosi loses her leadership position, and Dean and Emanual as well.

 Cricket...more action than baseball

Yesterday I wacthed my first cricket match. Played between the British Amercan Buiness Group BABG and the Australian - New Zealand Business Group, ANZACC it was great afternoon.  Once you understand the game (thanks to Zimbabwe Mark and Irish Brian) it's actually more entertaining that baseball...mainly because the ball is hit more frequently and there's a bit more action.  A few beers and a nice Pimm's (thanks  British Laura!) help as well.

If you want to understand the game in baseball terms, this site is pretty good:  Understanding cricket  I couldn't find the one I had looked at last spring, but will keep looking.  Essentially imagine baseball on a circular field with two batters and pitchers in the center of the field (pitch.)

 See this band!

A good friend promotes this band as a hobby.  If you're not familiar with The Band and the concert movie "The Last Waltz" (Directed by Martin Scorsce) you've heard their tunes before:

"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down", Up on Cripple Creek", 'The Weight"

The band's site:  download songs, concert dates in the Southeast, tickets, etc.  http://www.lastwaltztribute.com/

This past weekend, I saw a few of these guys play together as a pickup band...absolutely fantastic..wailing guitar...massive keyboards....very active bass...killer harp player.

Go to Smith's Olde Bar on September 24th and 25th to see them do the entire score from "The Last Waltz."  If Saturday was any indication, it will be a can't miss show.

 Daily Kos predictions; Speaker Hoyer?

Kos is THE Master of the liberal blogsphere. His predictions:

HOUSE (231 R - 202 D)

15 seats gives us Speaker Nancy Pelosi and a fierce battle between John Murtha and Steny Hoyer for House Majority Leader.

24 seat pickup if there's no wave, which I think is the likelier outcome.

36 seat pickup if there is a wave.

Shocker upset: There are several candidates to choose from -- ID-01, WA-05, NE-03, and CO-05 all qualify, and are all surprisingly winnable races in solidly Republican districts. But my shocker upset pick is Gary Trauner in the Wyoming at-large seat.

SENATE (55 R - 45 D)

I can't imagine it would actually happen, but what if the Democrats take control by just a few seats, and the new members are DINO's (Democrats In Name Only.) Question for my Democrat friends......Any chance that these new Congressmen, with enough existing conservative / moderate / realistic Democrats, might decide that they don't want a liberal San Francisco Democrat as the face of the party?  Hoyer ran a close race against Pelosi for leader last time around, you know.

Weather for Election Day in battleground states

Election Day Weather [Jonah Goldberg]
From a reader:

Rain in Tennessee, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island.  Will this keep independent turnout down?
